What is 6fed?

(or how I gave my gut a bit of rest and relaxation!)


I was diagnosed with a chronic dietary illness after prolonged strong anti-biotic exposure and after feeling unwell for a long time. After visiting my GP and getting a formal diagnosis, one of the options available to me was to start the 6fed diet. I wasn’t offered a nutritionist but I was determined to stay as far away from medicines like Proton Pump Inhibitors as much as possible. This led me to researching the 6fed diet and finding a way forward that worked for me.

6fed is a simplified approach to eating designed to support gut healing, digestion, and overall vitality; especially for those recovering from antibiotics or aiming for a metabolic reset. It can also be suggested for those that have a medical condition such as Eosinophilic Oesophagitis. Built around six foundational foods, it’s minimal, nutrient-dense, and ideal for short-term restoration or long-term routine.

Rather than promoting extreme restriction, 6fed focuses on calming the gut, rebuilding microbial balance, and minimising inflammatory triggers. Whilst there is no one diet that fits everyone, this diet can help to manage symptoms in the short and longer terms depending on your own condition.
